"I consider it a blessing to have such a wonderful cultural program available to us at Elon University - and it's so close to The Village."

Bill Grant, Resident

Lifelong Learning

The dimension of intellectual health encompasses both academic stimulation and maintaining one's cognitive health (memory). Our book clubs and reading groups serve to bolster our intellectual focus, as do the visiting speakers and professors. Also, our residents often attend the diverse guest speaking engagements at Elon University, including such speakers as Colin Powell, Jane Goodman, Desmund Tutu and others. Lastly, our wellness coordinator uses a variety of computer programs to stimulate memory and improve skills in spatial concepts and reaction times.

And, The Village at Brookwood is most fortunate to be within three miles of Elon University and its Life@Elon program, a lifelong learning opportunity for people 50 years old and above. A fall and spring semester offers a half-day of classes to its participants, along with a free membership with Friends of the Library for the Belk Library. All new residents at The Village at Brookwood are offered a full year tuition toward the Life@Elon program.
