"For the first time in my life, I have time to read, sew, and garden. Life isn't going to get any better than this!! Life is good."

What Makes Us Different

There are about 60 nonprofit continuing care retirement communities in North Carolina, but only a handful offer LifeCare contracts, with The Village at Brookwood being one of them.  The Village offers LifeCare (extensive) and Fee-for Service contracts so that a resident may choose the plan that best fits their needs and finanaces.  Among the 60 communities, there are several reasons The Village at Brookwood is distinguished from the rest.

  • Intimate Size
With a campus of 50 acres and under 200 residences, The Village is conducive to building a close-knit community. Residents form friendships throughout the campus rather than just knowing immediate neighbors. The small size also allows staff to connect to residents and deliver a great breadth and depth of services to meet the individual needs of each resident.
  • Wellness Emphasis
The Village views wellness as more than the absence of disease. The whole-person wellness program emphasizes six dimensions of health to encourage continual well-being throughout life. The Village understands that most individuals would like to remain in their homes during retirement — involvement in the Wellness Program is a way of lengthening one's days of strength and independence.
  • Lifelong Learning
Continued intellectual stimulation and growth should always be a part of one's wellness regimen. The Village at Brookwood offers many opportunities for continued learning experiences. Our close affiliation with Elon University allows residents numerous opportunities for academic stimulation, both on The Village campus and on the campus at Elon University. Elon offers a special program designed for the learner who is 55 years old and above, and all new residents to The Village receive a complimentary membership to this program.
  • Dining
At The Village at Brookwood, we know we have excellent food; in fact, our chef won the 2009 Triad Chef of the Year. However, in addition to taste, we emphasize the entire dining experience. With both casual and formal dining, residents at The Village experience a combination of excellent food, warm atmosphere, camaraderie and exquisite service to make the experience special.
  • Relationship to a Local Medical Center: Part of Cone Health, The Network for Exceptional Care
The Village at Brookwood is the only CCRC in North Carolina that is sponsored by a local medical center: Alamance Regional Medical Center (ARMC). ARMC offers support, guidance, and resources — it's a special relationship that allows access to the latest in medical advances and preventive medicine. Speakers from ARMC are often invited to take part in The Village's Wellness Speakers Series, and admissions and discharges during periods of hospitalization and recuperation are seamless between ARMC and The Village at Brookwood.
